C2C
C2c is in a group of four people, they are formed in the year of 1998 they also know as cross 2 cross. The collaboration group consists of 4 French DJs: Atom and pFeL from Beat Torrent and 20Syl and Greem from Hocus Pocus. Each of them has their own skills and instruments. For example, Turntable, keyboards, guitar, bass, drums and programming.

The four of them meet in high school and have shared a common musical culture, they have the same blend of electro, hip-hop and various other as inspirations. They are inspired by the work of Q-Bert and DJ Shadow, known as the founding fathers of turntablism. They set off to make a name for their group and started their own unique performing style.

The audience is attracted by the way the perform, not only playing with the programming but also switching, playful skilled and spectacular routines, and jazzy tunes with their simple contraptions. hey won the DMC World Competition four times in a row, for breathtaking technical dexterity and innate musical sensitivity.

Looking at their interview and sites:

What is the genre of their music?
The best way to describe C2C is they make Metaphor music, vintage kind of music, sound coming from everywhere. From mixing different culture and countries music especially African music, and fast base fast beats. The type of genre they are playing now electronic, trip-hop, electro swing, alternative hip-hop.

But looking into some of their interviews I found out, they don’t stick to one music genre, they decided to produce whatever they felt like and not force to have some kind of “label” put on their music. That feels like eclectic but coherent at the same time. Instated of play the program they do know how to play an instrument like guitar and drums. They have a studio in their hometown, Nantes(French) which they record the sounds they needed. They do pick their own vocal to mix with their music like Olivier Daysoul, Eva Moongaï, Gush, or Derek Martin.

What is their inspiration?
They are mostly inspired by DJ Qbert and DJ Shadow, but also listening to old school American hip-hop, rock, electronic music. As mention, they do like to mix with some culture music and old school
